Getting Out & Staying Out
In the spring of 2017, Seed Artists began a program to collect, sort and deliver books to GOSO (Get Out, Stay Out), one of the most impressive offender re-entry and rehabilitation programs that we know of. GOSO works to empower young men to avoid involvement in the criminal justice system by reshaping their futures through educational achievement, meaningful employment, and financial independence. GOSO has established itself as one of the most effective reentry programs in the New York City area, boasting a recidivism rate of 12% among men ages 16-24, compared to a national average of 67%.
We couldn’t do it without generous donations from our primary supply partners at the College Women’s Club of Montclair, and the Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library.
